In the workforce, there are professions which require certain skill sets to allow job tasks to be carried out effectively and efficiently. Certainly, some job tasks are unhealthy or may become unhealthy if performed incorrectly. For example, many jobs requiring daily clerical work involving the computer have seen an extraordinary rise in the number of carpel tunnel incidents and joint and nerve dysfunctions. There are greater incidents of eye strain and nervous conditions which can be directly attributed to starring at the comuter monitor over extended periods of time. Naturally, this reduced the quality of life for the employee, but also effects the collective effectiveness of the organization which directly feelss the effects of injured, sick or unhealthy peersonnel. Disease and disorder threaten the public and private coffers that support employee benefit and insurance programs.
Then there are the Protectors, a group of men and women who are in the business of public safety. These physical occupations place demands upon employees that unique to these professions. For these unique individuals, wellness it not enough. They need more than a simple wellness program. They need specific activities that strengthen their physical frame and develop their cardio-vascular support structure. Soldiers, Law Enforcement officers, Emergency medical personnel, firefighters...all face challenges that are both predictable and unpredictable. They serve in a state of constant readiness, having to meet any demand that threatens lives
